Melgaço, the northernmost region of Portugal, is protected by a series of mountain ranges that allow a perfect symbiosis between rainfall, temperature and the number of hours of sunshine needed for the best ripening of Alvarinho grapes.
Fermentation took place mainly in stainless steel (about 15% of the total volume fermented in used oak casks), with fine lees remaining until early May, the month when bottling occurred.
